Prof. Dr. Ulrich Weidmann has been Vice President for Infrastructure since 1 January 2016.
The Vice-President for Infrastructure leads the Executive Board division of the same name in the function of a Chief Operating Officer. Core competencies of the division are procurement, renewal and maintenance of needs-based infrastructures, as well as customer-oriented services for teaching, research, transfer, outreach and administration.
He is responsible for the building infrastructures with the development and management of the real estate portfolio, construction project management, building operation and energy systems. The management of knowledge resources according to the principles of Open Science ensures the supply of literature, supports the publication processes and secures publications. The division procures and operates the basic IT infrastructure, manages the licences and supports the users. It provides ETH members with further services for the organisation of events, for mobility, transport and storage needs, as well as print products and digital publication. The workshop platform mediates the production of mechanical and electronic components. Finally, the Infrastructure Division performs the cross-sectional task of operational safety, technical environmental protection and health protection.
