ETH transfer
ETH transfer is the technology transfer office of ETH Zurich. We support members of ETH Zürich in concluding research contracts with industry and protecting intellectual property. Moreover, ETH transfer is responsible for negotiating licensing agreements.
The unit reports directly to the Vice President for Knowledge Transfer and Corporate Relations.

Research contracts with industry and third parties
ETH transfer supports researchers of ETH Zurich with topics related to research agreements with third parties. ETH transfer also obtains permission from the Vice-President for joint research projects and opens funds with the Finance Desk.

Spin-off recognition and licensing
Start-ups, which are related to ETH Zurich, may apply for the ETH Spin-off label. Also, ETH transfer is the negotiation partner for licensing contracts.

Spark Award
The Spark Award is a prestige prize given for the most promising invention, which ETH Zurich filed for a patent. Successful invention disclosures to ETH transfer automatically enter the competition.
Inventions, patents and software licenses
When researchers at ETH Zurich make an invention, ETH transfer informs them about all aspects of proprietary rights. Particular attention is paid to how inventions or computer programs can be protected, for example with the help of a patent.
