Mobility students can find an overview of events here, some of which they must attend. Platforms offering events for students or all ETH members are also listed.
Welcome & introduction day (part 1)
- 18 September, 09.00 – 11.30, HG F 30 (Audimax; ETH Main Building; Rämistrasse 101, 8092 Zurich)
- Content: official welcome by the Rector, important information about your stay in Switzerland and at ETH, presentation of ESN and VSETH
- Target group: mandatory (!) for exchange students starting their studies at the beginning of the semester
Welcome & introduction day (part 2)
- 18 September, from 12.00, times and location depend on the departments and will be published shortly before semester start online
- Content: Individual programmes of the departments and / or departmental student organisations (“Fachvereine”). You might receive a separate invitation with more details directly from your department.
- Target group: mandatory (!) for exchange students starting their studies at the beginning of the semester
Health insurance in Switzerland: All you need to know
- 20 September, 18.00 – 19.30, webinar (link will be provided shortly before the event via email)
- Important: Attendance is mandatory for all incoming exchange students and all new international students starting their studies at ETH.
- Content: Presentation and Q&A. General information about liability and health insurance in Switzerland, exemption process for students with an EU health insurance card, Swiss health insurance packages for international students and how to claim refunds.
- Target group: exchange and international students newly arrived in Switzerland and at ETH
International "Zvieri" (informal get-together)
- 25 September, 16.00 – 17.30, HG K 30.5 ("Dozentenfoyer", ETH Main Building; Rämistrasse 101, 8092 Zurich)
- Content: Informal get-together with fellow students and representatives from the Student Exchange Office. Includes snacks and beverages.
- Target group: exchange students
"Beyond cheese, chocolate and watches": An intercultural guide to understanding the Swiss
- 3 October, 18.15 – 19.45, HG F 30 (Audimax; ETH Main Building; Rämistrasse 101, 8092 Zurich)
- Content: Workshop about typical Swiss values, patterns of communication and culture shock. Participants reflect on their own communication patterns and the differences in values and communication styles between different cultures.
- Target group: exchange students interested in Swiss culture, culture shock, intercultural communication, etc. and international Master's degree students and Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship holders (joint event)
Examinations at ETH Zurich
- 9 October, 18.15 – 19.15, webinar (link will be provided shortly before the event via email)
- Important: Attendance is mandatory for all incoming exchange students who plan to shift exams due to academic reasons.
- Content: The first 30 minutes will focus on registration and deregistration and on how to manage your exam schedule. The next 30 minutes will clarify how to shift your exams – if necessary – and / or organize distance exams.
- Target group: exchange students
International "Zvieri" (informal get-together)
- 2 November, 16.00 – 17.30, CAB H 47.3 (FoodLab; CAB building top floor; Universitätsstrasse 6, 8092 Zurich)
- Content: Informal get-together with fellow students and representatives from the Student Exchange Office. Includes snacks and beverages.
- Target group: exchange students
Tips and tricks for your oral exam
- 21 November, 18.15 – 19.45, HG F 30 (Audimax; ETH Main Building; Rämistrasse 101, 8092 Zurich)
- Content: Oral exams live: staged exam simulations with actresses / actors. Tips and tricks on how to prepare for oral exams.
- Target group: exchange students taking courses at ETH and new Master’s degree students
