Direct Doctorate (offered in the first application window only)

If you are applying for the Direct Doctorate in Applied Mathematics, submit a complete application for the Master's degree programme with the following additions:

• A written confirmation of an ETH Zurich professor for the financing of the Master's degree programme and subsequent doctoral studies in their research group.
• Motivation letter (Letter of intent) for the direct doctorate

Direct Doctorate (offered in the first application window only)

If you are applying for the Direct Doctorate in Chemical and Bioengineering MSc, submit a complete application for the Master's degree programme with the following additions:

• A written confirmation of an ETH Zurich professor for the financing of the Master's programme and subsequent doctoral studies in their research group.
• Letter of intent for the direct doctorate

Direct Doctorate (offered in the first application window only)

If you are applying for the Direct Doctorate in Chemistry, submit a complete application for the Master's degree programme with the following additions:

• A written confirmation of an ETH Zurich professor for the financing of the Master's programme and subsequent doctoral studies in their research group.
• Letter of intent for the direct doctorate

Direct Doctorate (offered in the first application window only)

Your statement of purpose (motivation letter) should concisely explain your motivation and suitability to do doctoral studies in computer science at ETH Zurich. It should describe any past research and teaching experience, identify general areas of research and reflect on two preferred research groups’ work you are interested in to complete the doctoral programme as well as future career plans. No word limit.

If you are applying for the Direct Doctorate in Mathematics, submit a complete application for the Master's degree programme with the following additions:

• A written confirmation of a ETH Zurich professor for the financing of the Master's programme and subsequent doctoral studies in his or her research group.
  
• Motivation letter (letter of intent for the direct doctorate).

Direct Doctorate (offered in the first application window only)

If you are applying for the Direct Doctorate in Physics, submit a complete application for the Master's degree programme with the following additions:

• A confirmation of your future supervisor. This letter has to state that she or he provides the funding for the merit-based scholarship during your MSc studies and the salary for the subsequent doctoral studies.
  
• Please state in your motivation letter (MSc application) your suitability for the planned research.
  
• Furthermore an outstanding academic record is required.
