Arguably, Artificial Intelligence systems have been around since 1943, but now, 80 years later, have suddenly gained unprecendented prominence with the release of one particular system, ChatGPT.

Systems have now reached a stage where their impact on education cannot be ignored anymore.

Rapid releases of new systems and versions are to be expected. While there are some general ideas about Academic Integrity, it is challenging to write definitive guidelines, tips, tricks, and rules for their usage, so this page and its subpages will invariably need continual updating.

Exploring the use of AI in teaching and learning is an active field of research and development. The administrative department Educational Development and Technology is involved in a number of projects, and ETH-internal funding for new projects can be obtained through the Innovedum Focal Point Theme AI in Teaching and Learning.
